Description:

The T25KW is a truck mounted, top-drive waterwell drill. It has a powerful deck engine and high pressure air compressor for heavy duty down-the-hole drilling. Pullback is up to 30,000lb (133 kN). The T25KW can carry up to 640’ (195 m) of drill pipe on board, handling pipe is exceptionally efficient with the carousel loader. The drill table has a 20” (508 mm) opening for large casing. The T25KW is ideal for the contractor working in areas with hard rock formations like granite and requiring maximum productivity in the most rugged design. An optional mud pump adds the flexibility to mud rotary drill.

Ideco 108’/268,000# derrick with Crown-o-matic. Custom-built 300-ton integrally loaded substructure with 18’X21’ floor. 14’ Kelly bushing measurement with 10’10” clear height under rotary beams. Sub and wall section are unitized and mounted on wheels and axles, including hydraulic boom and pipe handling equipment. Substantially rebuilt in 2006.

 

DRAWWORKS

History of rig

In 1987 the rig was operating in West Virginia drilling oil and gas wells.  The contractor used (4) air compressors totalling 3000 cfm / 125 psi and a booster that raised to 600 psi.  They drilled 28” holes to 1200’ to set surface, than narrowed to 8-5/8” and further to 6-1/8” to a total depth of 2800 – 3000’.

 

They had a problem where the rig caught fire and had some damage.  They received an insurance settlement of $300,000 and completely reworked the rig with all new components.

 

They switched to larger rigs and sold this rig to one of the major drilling companies.

 

Before moving the rig to Alaska, where it drilled 3 big holes, they completely rebuilt the rig and replaced the two pullback cylinders. 

 

They sold the rig to the current owners who have drilled 45 holes 1100’ deep, using 1200 hours.

 

They describe the components condition as follows:

 

Air compressor is in good condition and does not require rebuilding.

Detroit 12V71.  Although rebuilt, it leaks oil.  They think a new head gasket will fix the leak.

Detroit 471 carrier engine is in good condition. 

T5 head – requires seal

Main hydraulic pump was weak so they spent $3,200 to rebuilt – it’s in good shape.

Fan hydraulic pump – replaced gearbox – good shape.

 

Drill pipe mixed:

950’ of 4-1/2” x 25’ with 2-7/8 IF

Remainder is 4-1/2” x 25’ with 3-1/2 Reg.
